Fortunately, this is a general, not a special, election. No cash bars here

I don't care how special the booze is. Give me Canadian whiskey with Canada dry ginger ale and we're good.

I stopped giving a shit about scotch once I came to realize that the Japanese are better at whisky. Fight me. It’s true.

I love it!
Green label is my preferred though, good mix between cost and quality. I used to bu y my father a bottle for chistmas/birthday/fathers day and we’d split it - good times.

Also ever since I drank a bunch of this because I had to in
2016, I’ve decided to make this my election night beverage of choice.

Blue and the regular line, yes, but I still like Double Black and Green.

Not better at Straight Sixes though

At that price I’d rather get a single malt.

You don’t finish the entire bottle yourself? O_O

Japanese whiskey is incredible. I don’t remember the age but the younger Yamazaki and Hibiki whiskies are top notch. Unfortunately, the only one I can find in Ontario is called Toki and I believe it’s made by Suntory.
Scotch was awesome right up until the point that everyone else also decided that they liked it which increased the demand which lowered the supply which removed age guarantees and the price still went way up.
There are plenty of good whiskies to go around which I think contributes to the reason why I rarely buy scotch whisky now.

Toki is absolutely wonderful for the price. It’s got this wonderful combination of peaty smokiness and the kind of spiciness you get in an American rye.
Also, Japanese whisky is having the demand outpacing the supply problem BIGTIME right now. Prices are going through the roof since they didn’t anticipate the
popularity of a product that literally takes years to make.

There was an NPR piece this morning on ways to keep calm on election day. Would have been much easier to just say “start drinking”.

Well, I guess I’m fucked there, too. It’s interesting because my friends who enjoy good whisky don’t have anything to say about Japanese whisky, but like I said it’s hard to find here.
I’ve found a couple of cheap staples that work for me - Crown Royal Northern Harvest is my go-to whiskey now for its (relatively) low price here. American bourbon tends to be more expensive, but not by too much. I’ll drink Bulleit no problem but I like the ass-kickingness of Knob Creek. Woodford Reserve if I’m feeling fancier, but you don’t really get a lot of different bourbons up here, either.

You just gotta wait a couple years. This happened to tequila a few years back, when the whole THE ONLY REAL NEW WORLD LIQUOR!!! thing met with people noticing that the good stuff is really, really good caused supply to dwindle and prices to spike.
And the American whiskey I will forever swear by is one of the cheapest and most widely available: Old Overholt. There’s a reason why it’s been a thing since 1810.

JW Black is a good , reasonably affordable goto... Blue is just ‘spensive...

independent here. Fine with Balvenie.

I had a 12 year Yamazaki that was amazing. It was the first time I had noticed it at my liquor store, and it was only $40, so I grabbed it. Went back to get another and the guy told me it was a fluke shipment, and that the stuff is usually vaporware. Found some on the internet, but it’s in the $150 range.

I’ll take the JW Blue, gladly.
Politically, I’d rather see both major parties diluted and split up into many smaller parties to better cater to their constituents, and lessen the toxic “us vs them” mental corruption/brainwashing.

That's over $200 a bottle. Might as well drink pureed money.
